About Pearls

Pearls are originated from a living organism, the oyster. They are beautiful, delicate and should be well taken care for. With these simple steps you and your family will enjoy their beauty for generations to come.
  • Store your Pearls separately, away from other jewelry, wrapped in a soft cloth or tissue paper. Without the proper protection Pearls could scratch, causing serious damage to their finish.
  • Remove Pearls before applying on any perfume, hair spray and make-up. Excessive exposure to these chemicals will dull the natural sheen and translucency of Pearls.
  • Do not clean Pearls with an all purpose jewelry cleaning solution. Make sure to use a cleaner formulated specifically for Pearls.
  • Bring your Pearl's jewelry periodically to your jeweler, for inspection. If you wear your strand of Pearls frequently, we recommend to have them restrung every year. If worn less frequently, every other year would be adequate. .

About Diamonds

Diamond is a mineral, a natural crystalline substance, the transparent form of pure carbon.... the "king of gems". Except for trace of impurities, a diamond is composed solely of carbon, the chemical element that is fundamental to all life. Diamond is the hardest mineral known to man.

Diamond jewelry has a universal appeal, it glitters, it dazzles. The better quality diamonds will radiate greater brilliance when light travels thru it. The Four Cs, cut, color, clarity, and carat weight are the four elements that should be considered collectively before buying a diamond of significance. Some tips to remember when caring for diamond jewelry are:

  • Do not wear diamond jewelry when performing manual chores. DO NOT go gardening, to the beach, rock-climbing...........with your good jewelry.
  • Keep your Diamonds clean, soak your jewelry in a good cleaning solution for a couple of minutes to restore brilliance a d beauty to you jewelry.

About Metals
Gold is the metal of choice for jewelry making. Karat designation for gold represents the content of pure gold, i.e.:
  • 24 karat is pure gold, which is 100 % gold.
  • 22 karat is 22 parts of 24, about 91% gold.
  • 18 karat is 18 parts of 24 or 75% gold
  • 14 karat is 14 parts of 24 or 58% gold
  • 10 karat is 10 parts or 24 or 47 % gold
Some useful tips:
  • Make-up creams, moisture, and chemicals may accelarate oxidation and dull the luster of gold.
  • Scratches and other wear damage, may be eliminated with a good buffing. Ask your jeweler to polish your jewelry often.
  • Some people may be allergic to 14 and 10 karat gold due to alloys mixed with the gold. In some cases 18 karat gold or higher grading may be the solution due to the lower concentration of alloys.

About Platinum
The purity of platinum is often higher than that of gold. Platinum jewelry is about 90%+ pure. It also more "solid" than gold in terms of how resistant it is to tarnishing by chlorine, etc. It is very strong; plus, it is a very popular choice in jewelry making. Maintenace tips:
  • Fortunately, platinum is very durable and does not lose its polish very easily.
  • For jewelry that combines platinum with other fine jewelry components (like gold), clean those substances and care for them as you would if they were not paired with platinum.

About Silver

Silver, one of the world's most useful metals, is also one of the world's most valuable metals. It can achieve a great polish and does not tarnish in its pure form. Most silver jewelry is silver combined with other metals (alloys). This makes it more suitable for general jewelry use. Some maintenace tips:
  • Silver is scratch-resistant but not scratch-proof.
  • In addition to the general jewelry care steps, silver jewelry care can benefit from special silver jewelry cleaning solutions. Check with your jeweler about these.
  • Prevent your silver from being exposed to direct air and light contact.
  • Avoid placing silver in chlorine-containing materials.Be selective in what you use to clean your silver, i.e. pads, cloths, etc. Felt works well, as do special cleansing cloths designed for silver cleaning. Other materials, including tissue, should be avoided.
